Rob's 4th Birthday

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

In the midst of company and VBS, we celebrated a very special little boy's 4th birthday. Nothing fancy, but he did ask for Spider-Man...everything. I did my best to not disappoint. Rob talked about it for days after the fact, so I'm assuming he was pleased.

His birthday started with our pastor calling him to the stage and serenading him in front of ALL the VBS kids. Rob just stood there, petrified. It was hilarious. Later, Pastor Bear gave him a whole Snickers bar. Far better experience than the serenading.

More after the jump...

After we got home and the boys had their naps, my grandparents popped over and we had an impromptu birthday party for Rob.

First up, a Thomas book with a little play map.

A Spider-Man punching bag, which has been a huge hit (no pun intended) with the boys. They love beating the pulp out of him and it's a little scary how into it they get.

Looking at his birthday card.

Drew and Gramps checking out Rob's new Thomas book.

Weird little monster dude that lit up.

Kathy was entertained.

Looking at the Thomas book with Grams.

Drew didn't quite know what to think of him.

Kathy playing with the boys on Rob's new Thomas map.

Oh, Kathy...you crack me up.

Nana's here!

Time to open Mama and Daddy's gifts.

Remember this? Well, he absolutely LOVED it! I was so pleased and relieved!

What's this?

Spider-Man stuffy!

Even Drew got something. Grandma Kathy can't help herself. =)

Awesome bubble blower from Grandma and Grandpa Marshall. This thing is so cool!

And last, but not least, a Spider-Man car from Grandma Kathy. This kid was spoiled rotten!

And then there was cake! I was just too worn out from the day/week, I gave up on decorating it and handed it over to Matt. I think he did a pretty good job and was wonderful for letting me rest for a bit.

What was inside? Two layers of white cake, one dyed blue and the other red. Mini chocolate chips and vanilla frosting (also dyed) in the middle. It was very tasty and colorful!

Eager to blow out the candles!

 Happy birthday Rob!

Daddy had to help direct the blowing a bit.

See? Rob was very impressed!

Mmm! Sugary goodness!

Can't believe he's FOUR! Thank you, Lord, for giving us four amazing years with this little guy! I pray for many, many more!
