Yard Work

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

We've been itchin' all winter to get out and start tackling the yard. Finally, the weather cooperated enough this weekend to let us do so.

Here's my man putting in a new flowerbed. Thinking about putting some shrubbery here. Flowers will only get trampled.

More after the jump...

Eh, who needs a wheelbarrow when you have the boys' wagon? They were happy to share.

Piles upon piles of dead junk I pulled out of the flower bed. Yikes. All the dirt spots are where the irises had jumped the curb and started taking root in the yard. WAY overgrown.

We decided that since grass doesn't like to grow here (despite our best efforts), we're going to make it another flowerbed. Just working on leveling it off a bit and then we'll plant some lovely assorted bulbs that are anxiously waiting in my kitchen.

Columbine for my Colorado Love. These went to live on the back patio, where there's more shade.

Matt soaking some newly-planted calendulas (thanks Grams!).

What a difference a new spread of mulch makes!

Newly-planted bachelor buttons. I just love these.

Cleaned-up bed! Much nicer!

Starting to look more civilized, finally! Still a lot of work to do, but we're getting there. Eager to see some more blooms.
